NFF begins process to free Aina for Eagles


In a move to ensure that the Super Eagles Technical Adviser is encouraged to use all the players in in his plans to return Nigeria ti to international football, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has commenced moved to seek FIFA approval for switch of allegiance for Chelsea star, Ola Aina.

Aina had trained with the Super Eagles at the Hive stadium last month in London and convinced Technical adviser, Gernot Rohr who has expressed his desire to have him in the new Super Eagles list that will train in Corsica, France, ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifying match against South Africa.

NFF sources informed that the Chelsea youngster is expected this week to file his application to world football body, FIFA, for a change of allegiance from England to Nigeria

“We are on the process of securing the release of Aina for the Super Eagles by FIFA. The request has been submitted to FIFA for approval,” an NFF source said at the weekend.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has asked for the use of the Chelsea players, who has already represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and u20 levels, but has expressed his decision to switch allegiance to Nigeria at the senior level.
