Plateau United maintained their leadership of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after an impressive 2-0 win against Kano Pillars at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Sunday.
A goal in each half from Ibeh Johnson and Elisha Golbe in the 15th and 55th minutes sealed the win for Plateau United. The victory was Plateau’s sixth at the Rwang Pam Stadium this season; it was Pillars’ first defeat in their last six games, after three wins and two draws.
In Maiduguri, El Kanemi Warriors stretched their winning run at the El-Kanemi Stadium to 20 games and kept pace with leaders Plateau United at the top of the log following a 2-0 win against Niger Tornadoes. Samuel Mathias and Ibrahim Babangida were the scorers for El-Kanemi.
Mathias opened the scoring in the 35th minute before Babangida netted the second on 56 minutes. In Sagamu, Fatai Osho recorded his first win after six games as struggling Remo Stars beat ABS 3-0 to deny the Ilorin-based club backto- back wins for the first time this season.
Remo’s three goals were scored by Ekene Awazie, Salefu Ochowechi and Saheed Lasisi in the seventh, 61st and 87th minutes respectively. The win takes Remo off the bottom of the log above Wikki Tourists who are not in action due to Enugu Rangers’ CAF Champions League assignment.
