Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Ikorodu United, were on Friday involved in a terrible accident that resulted in the loss of several lives.
According to the media manager of the Lagos-based club, Babatunde Ayoola, the accident occurred at about 4pm along AMA Brewery Road 9th mile Enugu, as the team travelled from their Lagos base to Makurdi for an NPFL fixture against Lobi Stars.
Ikorodu United, popularly referred to as The Oga Boys, were said to be travelling in a Chisco bus but came off lucky as the players and staff on board were generally unhurt, with only a few sustaining minor injuries.
Along with Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) Football Club, Ikorodu United are one of the two sides representing Lagos State in the Nigerian top flight, but while the former have acquainted themselves well this season, The Oga Boys are presently languishing at the bottom of the log.
